What it is: Tag Galaxy is a neat little tool that helps students to explore relationships between words and ideas as well as view pictures related to that word. Type in a word to search and immediately you are transferred to a galaxy with the original word at the center and the associated ideas orbiting around it. When you click on the word in the center, a globe populates with pictures from Flickr that are tagged with that word. Click on one of the orbiting words and tags related to that word start to orbit. Tag Galaxy is a very neat way to view information!
Five Months on Tumblr as Seen Through Pummelvision:
Pummelvision is a new tool that takes photographs you have uploaded to your Tumblr, Facebook or Flickr accounts and turns them into a rapid slideshow of your (digital) life. The Atlantic’s Tumblr launched in August of this year and, when plugged into the Pummelvision interface, already shows more than 230 images for the service to choose from.
Amanda Mooney, a social media strategist for Edelman, recently posted a Pummelvision video of her two years on Tumblr to the blog for Ruby Pseudo, a London-based agency. In her post, Mooney noted that Pummelvision reminds her of Rick Webb’s summary of Tumblr: It’s “the only place you can talk serious business mixed in with badass shark photos.”
Check out our first five months on Tumblr above, or try out Pummelvision with your own Tumblr. We know you want to.
